Providing immediate support for the basic needs of vulnerable people, addressing the challenges caused by the pandemic

Mission

The project aims to revitalise, innovate, and expand the activities of the “Porta della Solidarietà” in the Metropolitan Area of Milan (Maggiolina-Istria metro stop), addressing the challenges caused by the pandemic. The primary goal is to provide immediate support for the basic needs of vulnerable people (local Italian families but also refugees/migrants/immigrants) while simultaneously promoting access to social and recreational activities to foster inclusion.

Target beneficiaries :

  • Refugees, migrants and immigrants from Italian disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Local Italian families from disadvantaged socioeconomic backgrounds.

    Target Duration: 24 Months

Impact

The focus is on creating an active participation space involving the local community and both public and private actors.
Proposed actions include the opening of a structured listening centre, orientation and counselling desks, creative workshops for young migrants, Italian language courses, and cultural exchanges between young people.
Additionally, the project plans to implement workshops to improve digital skills, organise meetings and recreational activities for families, and provide parenting support interventions. A store will be established to distribute food and hygiene products, along with an orientation space on economic issues.
